Clarinda, IA  – Partners in Exceptional Care of Clarinda Regional Health Center received a Governor’s Volunteer Award from Governor Kim Reynolds during a special recognition ceremony held June 25th in Ankeny.

Twenty-two volunteers were honored with an Individual Service award by Clarinda Regional Health Center for their hours volunteering within the hospital and out in the community to improve the lives of its patients. Volunteers help Clarinda Regional Health Center fulfill its mission to advance exceptional care each and every day.

More than 400 awards were presented this year. It is estimated that over 85 communities in Iowa were served by this year’s honorees.

“Those being recognized are the people who invest in others without expecting anything in return—except, of course, for the fulfillment that comes from doing their part to give back to their community,” said Gov. Kim Reynolds. “This collective impact is nothing short of remarkable.”

Coordinated by Volunteer Iowa, a program within the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (Iowa HHS), the Governor's Volunteer Award program—now in its 40th year—provides an easy way for Iowa nonprofits, charitable organizations, and government entities to honor their volunteers with a prestigious, state-level award. About Volunteer Iowa (Iowa Commission on Volunteer Service)

Volunteer Iowa—a program within Iowa HHS--and its partner agencies work with organizations and individuals on three main fronts. The first is to help agencies develop quality programs that use service as a strategy to fulfill their missions and address Iowa’s greatest areas of need. The second is to help engage Iowans in their communities by promoting service and expanding the volunteer base. Finally, the third area of work is to connect individuals with appropriate service opportunities by building the volunteer infrastructure. More information is available at volunteeriowa.org.

Clarinda Regional Health Center will be offering FREE sports physicals for all student-athletes at all our clinic locations this summer! In coordination with the school district, two clinic dates will be available onsite at Clarinda High School for sport physicals with our providers:

  • Tuesday, July 9th from 8:00 am - 10:00 am @ Clarinda High School
  • Wednesday, July 10th from 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm @ Clarinda High School
  • You can call CRHC at 712-542-8330 to schedule for CHS clinics

Please bring the following items for a sports physical at CRHC or CHS clinic dates:
  1. Sports physical form (all 4 pages) from your school with pages 1-2 filled out and pages 2 and 4 signed by the parent/guardian before the appointment.
  2. A consent to treat form signed by parent/guardian. The consent form is attached to this packet for CHS clinics or if a parent cannot be present during a visit at CRHC. Otherwise, a consent form will be signed by a parent/guardian as normal upon check-in for an appointment at any of CRHC’s clinic locations.
  3. If the student-athlete wears corrective lenses (contact lenses or glasses) please wear them to the sports physical.

The importance of annual well-child checks cannot be overlooked! If you know your child needs immunizations or has a health concern to address, please schedule a well-child check and bring the sports physical paperwork to that visit for completion. A well-child visit is a more thorough exam that will address things that aren't completed at a sports physical like immunizations, prescribing or reviewing medication, assessments for development, mental health, and more. This visit would be billed to insurance and is typically covered by most insurance companies.
