Minimally Invasive Foot & Ankle Surgery

Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) of the foot and ankle has become increasingly popular over the last several years due to advancements in instrumentation and technique. Minimally invasive surgery differs from traditional open surgical techniques in that is it done through very small incisions and the surgeon must utilize a combination of external touch, small cameras (scopes) and/or x-ray machines to help guide them during the procedure. Because of the different skill set needed for this particular type of surgery, the surgeon performing these procedures will have completed additional specific training and certification in minimally invasive surgery of the foot and ankle.

Dr. John Lazoritz is a Board-Certified Podiatrist and certified to perform minimally invasive surgery right here at Clarinda Regional Health Center. There are numerous benefits to having this type of surgery, if you qualify:

  1. Decreased pain after surgery
  2. Decreased swelling after surgery
  3. Faster recovery with earlier and/or immediate weightbearing in a surgical boot after surgery
  4. Decreased scarring
  5. Decreased risk of wound complications
  6. Better joint range of motion with less stiffness
  7. In general, decreased time spent in the operating room and time under anesthesia

Schedule an appointment with Dr. John Lazoritz if you're having foot or ankle concerns. Minimally invasive surgery could be an option for you.
