P. Ross Hurd, ARNP, DNP

P. Ross Hurd, NC, DNP, ARNP, NP-C was born in Wyoming and grew up near Billings, Montana. He attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, where he obtained his associate degree in nursing in 1992, followed by a bachelor’s degree graduating Summa Cum Laude from Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa, in 1998. He completed his master’s degree at the University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, and received his Doctorate from the University of Missouri, Columbia in 2016. He was certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner in 2009.
Ross has worked in health care since 1991, working as an ICU registered nurse in Idaho and later as an ER registered nurse in Sitka, Alaska, Utah, and Missouri. After becoming board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner, he has worked the ED at a Level 2 trauma center from 2009 to 2016 in Missouri. After completing his doctorate, he moved to Iowa where he worked as the sole ED provider and hospitalist. In 2022, he was recalled to active duty where he served as the Senior Medical Officer for the Navy Personnel Command until retiring in the rank of Captain after 27 years of reserve service. For the past 2 years, he has worked as an itinerant provider in Alaska providing primary care and emergency services to the remote communities of Yakutat, Sand Point, Egegik, False Pass, Adak, Togiak, and most recently Ouzinkie.
