The 5-star rating reflects Clarinda Regional Health Center's ongoing commitment to meet the unique healthcare needs of the rural community it serves. This recognition highlights the hospital's success in providing outstanding medical services, despite the challenges often faced by rural healthcare facilities.

The 2025 National Rural Honor Roll honorees, announced each November, include rural hospitals that have met the highest standards for patient experience, based on cumulative ratings submitted by October 31, 2024. This annual recognition reinforces NRHA’s commitment to supporting and uplifting rural health care facilities as pillars of their communities.

Clarinda Regional Health Center (CRHC) is a 25-bed critical access hospital located in southwest Iowa, dedicated to providing exceptional, patient-centered care to the communities it serves. The 5 Star Rating System ranks rural and critical access hospitals – with five stars being the top ranking and one star being the lowest. The Star Ratings are like the CMS Stars, which allow hospitals/clinics to promote their success and are used as high-quality recognitions. Most small and rural hospitals (60%) do not qualify because of low number of qualifying inpatients for the CMS Rankings but are held to the same high patient satisfaction criteria. This program recognizes the hard work, and dedication rural and critical access hospitals provide across the country. The rankings will include overnight hospital stays (HCAHPS) and are based on data collected by certified CMS patient satisfaction vendors.


The National Rural Honor Roll was created to honor rural and critical access hospitals and clinics that consistently deliver exceptional healthcare, showcasing them as leaders in patient-centered care within their communities. Facilities included on the Honor Roll receive recognition for their dedication and excellence that sets them apart, demonstrating their commitment to patient well-being.

CRHC to Host Ribbon Cutting for Renovated Garden

Clarinda Regional Health Center (CRHC) invites the public to a ribbon cutting celebration for the newly renovated and named "Wellness Roots" Garden on Wednesday, May 21st, from 4–6 p.m . The event is held in conjunction with Iowa Kids Garden Day and will highlight exciting new features in the garden space on the NW corner of CRHC's campus. The refreshed garden now includes a sensory garden and several improvements to the CRHC All-Star Sprouts Kids Garden area, creating a more engaging and accessible environment for children and families. The celebration will feature activities for kids, snacks, drinks, and a chance to explore the new garden enhancements. It’s a great opportunity for the community to come together, enjoy the outdoors, and celebrate this unique space focused on wellness and fun. Discover Healthy Living at CRHC’s First Wise & Well Event for Individuals 50 and Older

Clarinda Regional Health Center will be hosting it’s first “Wise & Well’ Health Expo from 5-7p.m. on Tuesday, April 8th, at J Bruner’s to bring health awareness to individuals 50 and older. This event will bring educational opportunities to learn about various topics that covers things like: Medicare Counseling and resources, oncology and breast cancer services, as well as presentations given by CRHC providers themselves. In addition to educational opportunities, guests will also be able to visit health screening booths where they can schedule appointments, get their blood pressure checked, and receive vaccines. Alongside the health and wellness activities, J Bruner’s will provide a catered meal of sliders, a couple side dishes, a fresh salad, and dessert. The meal is for all participants and will begin to be served at 5:30p.m. J Bruner’s is located at 117 N 15th Street in Clarinda, IA. Dr. Daniel Lister Joins CRHC's Specialty Clinic

Dr. Lister brings over three decades of medical expertise in orthopedic care, specializing in Sports Medicine, Adult Reconstruction, Shoulder and Knee Arthroscopy, as well as hand and wrist procedures. Originally from Rancho Cordova, CA, Dr. Lister has a distinguished educational background. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the University of California – Davis before obtaining his Doctor of Medicine degree from the California College of Medicine at the University of California – Irvine.
